Mum opens up about why she doesn’t force her son to share his toys

Alanya Kolberg, mother of son Carlson has took to Facebook to explain why she feels that her son is not obliged to share his toys with other children.

Amazingly, Alanya’s post received a staggering 236,000 likes – and of course plenty of people also commented to give their own opinion on her post.

After being approached by six other children one day at the park, Alanya told her son that if he doesn’t want to share his toys he doesn’t have to.

Carlson clutched his toys to his chest and said ‘No’.

She told the boys: ‘He doesn’t have to share with you. He said no. If he wants to share, he will.’
However, as soon as these words left Alanya’s lips, she received some very dirty looks from other parents.

It’s for this reason Alanya has taken to Facebook as she wants to make it clear as to why she’s fine with her son not sharing.

One person was completely behind Alanya, and offered their support. They wrote: ‘Let’s get back to the point at hand. Too many kids grow up with the entitlement syndrome and think that everything is supposed to just handed to them because their parents spoils them and can’t say NO to the kids themselves.

‘Even more than that grow up not knowing how to say NO which later leads to manipulation from society and their circle of influence. The message is a great message Alanya. Teach your kids when to be selfless and when NO is appropriate!’

Alanya demanded that other parents should remember that children are not obligated to share their toys.
She asks that they realise that ‘we don’t live in a world where it’s conductive to give up everything to have to anyone just because they said so’ – and regardless of who takes this information in, Alanya will continue to teach her son that this is the ‘way it works’.
