A 31 year old pregnant woman from Crawley has taken to Twitter to express her frustration at ignorant passengers who refused to give up their seats for her, during a 2 hour commute to London.

Due to Southern rail strikes, Lauren, who is eight months pregnant found herself delayed; her journey taking 2 hours instead of the usual 40 minutes, many other people faced the same delay but unfortunately for heavily pregnant Lauren she had to stand for her whole journey as no one would let her sit down. Lauren even asked the people on the carriage if they would give up their seat when she started to struggle but was met with complete silence, at which point she tweeted of her dismay with the hashtag #chivalryisdead.

She was then even more disgusted to find strangers responding on Twitter with rude comments such as: ‘you should be at home, stop moaning’.

Lauren partly blames the Southern rail strike for her problems as many people were forced to get on the same trains resulting in over filled carriages and many angry commuters pushing and shoving to try and get a seat, with some people being forced to sit in luggage racks.

Other passengers have complained of the ‘joke commute’ as the Railway cancelled trains from certain routes because of the strike. They also took to twitter to rant about the absurd rail service.
